The Fundação Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva (FRESS) is a private institution of public utility, established in 1953 by banker and art collector Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva. Its primary mission is to protect, study, and promote Portuguese decorative arts and the associated traditional crafts.
The foundation operates the Museum of Portuguese Decorative Arts, located in the Azurara Palace, which houses a significant collection donated by its founder. Additionally, FRESS maintains 16 workshops dedicated to preserving and teaching traditional Portuguese crafts, ensuring the continuation of specialized techniques through education and hands-on training.
